Can anybody recommend to me a good Japanese cookbook that covers most of the basic traditional foods?

Sun, January 6, 2008 - 10:46 AMI don't own this particular cookbook so I can't say how good it is, but I own the "Quick and Easy Thai" and the Vietnamese from the series and they're fantastic. I'm Vietnamese and the recipes are authentic and very easy. The author pairs up with a chef of the particular cuisine and they pick out the more "homestyle" recipes to make at home. Most of the recipes I use in the Thai and VN books take no more than 30 minutes to make. The 2 books I have feature pictures of all the ingredients you'll use and of every step.

I've been wanting to buy this one and the Korean one - they're both on my "to buy" list. -

I never really cared for Martin Yan but I must say this is a really good book that is full of not only great recipes but lots and lots of info on each region. You end up learning something along the way, each page has a recipe and side notes and history of the region.
