Anyone have any recipes using Asian ingredients and chestnuts (the kind that grow on trees, not water chestnuts)?
I imagine they'd be good in a stir fry, as they're more like a starchy vegetable than a nut, but I haven't tried it. So far all I've found are recipes of European origin, but I know chestnuts are a big crop in Japan and China.

Re: Chestnut Recipes
Mon, October 9, 2006 - 10:05 PMI know that when I was in Japan, they had all sorts of freshly roasted chestnuts available in vendors up and down the streets of the china-town in Yokohama. They were basically just roasted and salted. I'm also curious about interesting ways to prepare them since they seem to have gotten a bunch in at our local food co-op and natural foods stores, as well as our world imports store.
Wouldn't mind picking some up if I could do something fun with them.
